If you had a choice, which of the two jobs would you choose?

I live in Michigan's economy and moving is not an option, so there are not a lot of jobs available.

If you had a choice, which of the two jobs would you choose and why?

Choice A is a job that you can excel at personally, pays well, but leaves little or no time for family, and is the first job you have ever had where it was the perfect fit for your job skills and abilities and your boss loves your work. However the job requires well over the amount of time promised and involves evening and weekend hours. Note that you can't adjust the hours.

or

Choice B - is a high demand corporate america job that is 9-5 Monday through Friday. Lower pay, but would allow time for family with no weekends or evening hours. But the job has too much demands to it and you are worried whether you can even succeed at this type of work (been there done that).

Which job would you choose, especially if you don't want to job hop?

If you had a choice, which of the two jobs would you choose?
Choose neither job. I would search for another job. That is not job hopping just searching for a better job. Its not worth the stress both would bring.
Reply:Choice B

Family is most important. You may even get more experience from this job due to the challenges. And even if you are struggling a little with it, you will be free to spend time with your family.
Reply:My personal well-being and family time are both very important to me so I my choice would be B.
Reply:Choice B and then get some extra training for myself. That would be the better option because you still have time for your family and a life outside of work. That would be more important in my mind.
Reply:Moving is ALWAYS an option. It may not be a good option, but it is ALWAYS an option. Doing what you LOVE is always better than doing something you hate. That said, I recommend option C - neither of the options listed are a good long term plan.
Reply:if i loved my family B if not A
Reply:Choice A - you need to be happy and appeciated and this is where you seem most likely to. If the job is worthwhile and the employer good - you will resolve all other issues. I believe family first for the most part - but personal happiness reflects into you family and benefits them too. If you take the job that you are insecure about just for the sake of timing, you may resent the family for causing you to say no to the job that you sound so very positive about.

You are important to your family - so treat yourself the best you can.

Namaste,

Tina Louise
