If i have an degree in engineering from UofM (in the US obviously) and i wanted to pursue an engineering job in spain, would that be possible? is it possible for people from the US to actually have "real jobs" (not just teaching english/bartending) in spain? haha. i know taht sounds dumb but most of the people i have talked to said that i should just teach english or somthing.. haha. coudl i do anything with an engineering degree? like actually have a job i could have in the US?
Jobs in spain?
I am from Spain. It's possible that you get a real job as a engineer but you need to speak and write Spanish perfectly, otherwise you won't have much chance. That's why you've heard most British and Americans work as a English teachers (better money than bartending, lol). You may be able to get a job in a multinational company, so they may be less strict in your Spanish knowledge.
For the record, Spanish unemployment is 8% now but it used to be 12% few years ago so it's getting better and better. Big cities like Madrid and Barcelona have the best chances but it's also more expensive to live there. Engineer graduates can get a job easily, better than other graduates. I just graduated in Environmental Science with minors in Env. Engineering. I am living in UK now but all my friends who were studying with me in Spain got a proper job in within 3-6 months after getting the degree.
Your chances will depend on experience, languages you speak, IT knowledge,.... like anywhere else.
Reply:With the grammar that you have You would be fired on the first day...please I'm Latina and believe me I'm in shock. probably you speak perfect English but the way you write it you will make your pupils to fail. Sorry I made this observation but I hope it will help you to take a different job. Please don't teach because this require write and your weakness is in it. Hope you get the message. Wish you good luck.
