Jobs for the Disabled?

Hello everyone. I am 18 years old and have Limb-Girdle Muscular Dystrophy. I'm not wheelchair bound but cannot stand for extended lengths of time. Due to this, I'm having trouble finding a job where I can work enough hours without becoming worn out. I'm hoping to move out into an apartment soon but I need to get a job where I can work full time. If anyone can post any ideas for jobs, work at home jobs, or government assistance I can receive I'd greatly appreciate it.

Jobs for the Disabled?
Try Wal Mart or any of the bigger chains of supermarket. They all make concessions for folks with disabilities. They have chairs that you can sit on if you become a cashier and they use wheelchairs if you can't stand for long periods of time. I've seen many wheelchairs being used by Wal Mart employees just because they can't stand for long periods of time. Good luck hon.
Reply:Good luck, however, I haven't seen any wheelchair bound Wal-Mart employees. I sucked at the interview so I didn't get a job at Wal-Mart but I've seen at least two even more disabled people working there than I was. Report It

Reply:Perhaps something in telemarketing or a call center I think they pay very well and you can sit the whole time.
Reply:If you are a really good talker and can think fast on your feet (so to speak), maybe a telemarketing job would be the best bet for you. You have to come up with things to say to counter a potential customers objections as to why they won't buy something from you over the phone, such as: "I have to talk to my wife or husband first" or "Sorry I just can't afford it"
Reply:You don't say where you are? Are you considering any further education? College, university?

Try visiting www.eSight.org, there are jobs posted there but they also have numerous resources on job hunting, entrepreneurship.

Most working from home jobs usually are scams or pyramid multilevel marketting schemes, although not all.

Have you been assessed by vocational rehab? Does the MD society help in getting you post secondary training or job training?

Lots to think about I'm sure .

You might look into ssdi if you are American, or if Canadian your provincial disability allowance program.

But try to find some kind of employment before having to go on assistance .

Good luck.
Reply:walmart has jobs that you can set down if you need to but im not sure what they pay.
Reply:Hope these job websites beneficial to you.
