I am interested in working w/ animals as a job. I seem to like the dog grooming business the most. I've been working as a bather for about 2 months now and had been extremely interested in the job before. I am still in high school tho. I am also considering taking a little certification class at my local shelter to become "certified" to walk dogs. I was also considering starting a little walking service before college(little less than 2 years to go). I don't want to become a vet tech tho, but any other job in the animal industry I would adore. Any advice on which jobs are better than others? Also for the grooming aspect in this field i was considering to start a business a few years after college(after working in grooming place i work at now for more xp for in real-life situations in grooming)Any advice in that? I know that it takes a lot of work and not everyone is succesful and quit because they cant handle it but i feel i can. Thanks for any suggestions of other jobs too :)
Pet Field Jobs?
Even with the real world experience you should still take classes in Grooming. You will be able to get more and better jobs and it won't hurt. I won't go to a groomer that has no formal classes. That is the difference between experienced and PROFESSIONAL.
You can go into law enforcement and become and animal cruelty officer/humane police officer for an SPCA or something.
You could start a doggie day care.
I started my own rescue. Check out petfinder.com. Most of them are run out of people's homes. Not profitable, but meaningful. I take in Guinea Pigs. And I love it.
Or a dog trainer.
