Jobs working with dogs?
The vet technician job was what I was going to be. Usually its an associate of science degree...2 year. So just do well in your science/math courses. Vet assistant, I've heard from vets, that if you go to a program its a waste of money. Some vets will hire you on and train you to become a vet assistant, but you won't get a certificate as with the class you would.
Good luck on your endeavor to figure out what you want to be.
I'm almost 19 and in college and still trying to figure out what I want to do, nice to have a narrowed plan though.
Reply:I have had a wonderful life working with dogs. I learned to train dogs as a Master Trainer %26amp; specialized in Aggression training, Police Dogs, Personal Protection dogs, Tracking, substance detection, building search, crowd control,....... every aspect of a Police Dog %26amp; more.
Then I learned to groom dogs %26amp; with my back ground in aggression I specialized in behavioral problems. There is a GREAT need for groomers that understand canine behavior. Most don't know anything about canine behavior, just how to groom them. Not understanding their behavior have caused many a groomer to abuse dogs. It happens more often than not. I wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't have seen it for myself.
If you were to go to school to learn behavior there are many job that would grab you in a split second.
Too many people asign human behavior to canines %26amp; it just don't work that way. Understanding the reason behind a behavior is everything. Once you get that knowledge you can go just about anywhere %26amp; get a job.
Everything that you mentioned will take a bit of an education but, believe me, it is worthy of your time.
What ever you choose to do, do it with a passion %26amp; you can't go wrong.
Reply:groomer. we make descent cash too.
Well my crystal ball wasn't working. I didn't see anything about it. You really didn't have to thumbs down me for trying to help you out. Any F.Y.I. I make about $200. - $300 a day grooming 6 dogs a day. And
i worked at a vets. The techs were complaining I made more that them and my job was easier. no moody dr. to deal with.
Reply:You could be a professional dog handle or You could be an employee at the AKC

Reply:I'm currently studying vet assistant...but afterwards I plan to do some schooling in dog behaviour.. I find it extremely interesting how they communicate to each other and to us.. Theres also dog trainer.. or a vet...You could also get into dog nutrition...there many different rescue services.
Reply:Animal behaviorist. I've been working for over a year with a dog trainer who has 30 years experience. Learning how dogs communicate with each other is so interesting. There is always Vet Tech. That can be kind of stressful though if you have too much of a soft heart for animals. I couldn't do it. Don't knock dog grooming. I'm thinking of getting into it myself. Great money and you are with dogs all the time. You could find some trainers in your area and see if you could assist them on a volunteer basis. It's kind of like an apprenticeship program, you don't get paid, but you have free training. This will help you learn a lot.
Reply:you can be one of those people who work in dogs shows.
