Jobs, jobs, jobs!?

My sister is 13 and she wants a job other than a paper round, what jobs can she get, help!

Jobs, jobs, jobs!?
Not many at 13 I'm afraid. These days people can't cover people under 16 on their liability insurance so they steer clear of younger teens.

I had a Saturday job in a 'Chippy' when I was 14 but no one would touch me with a barge pole before that. (This was 20 years ago mind you, times have changed)

My husband suggests she try a local open market, they don't have the premises to worry about.
Reply:Hi,

She could try helping round the house doing some chores, but i understand that your parents may not want to give out money, this is the most basic one though.

Try asking in small shops that are run by famielys they may employ her just as a saturday job. You can do the same with asking in hairdressers.

Good Luck x
Reply:She can do your chores and receive money from you. She can type your school papers for you and your friends for money.
Reply:avon.. My friends teenage daughtor is an avon rep.. (with a little help from her mother) maybe this is something you could help your sister with and she could earn a bit of pocket money (and get you some freebies!!) lol
Reply:Well, in the USA, more than likely she can do babysitting, lawn care, and similar things. She is too young for youth work permits in most areas.
Reply:Most states wont let her work cause of her age she has to wait a year in my state and most other states as well. what you can do is find out your state laws. If your state allows her age then you just got to start calling up businesses and ask what age a person can be to do the job in the ad it will help her to not stress out if you call around for her. But she has to understand that most jobs ask for a person to be 16 or older. There are very few places that will take a 13 year old. Try putting a ad for her to baby sit over the summer and if she does it cheaper then daycares there will be allot of parents out there that would jump at that since school is ending soon in most states.
Reply:Desk job in her class room.

With lots of books and

her boss is a teacher,

and her wages are sticky

stars.
Reply:Well she will have to stick with assistant jobs. There not a lot of "official jobs" she can do.

The most popular job would be petsitting, babysitting or mother's aid job(babysitter who stay while Mom is at home, so she can get things done). this is an option from age 12.(but it really depends on the parents) My best friend work at a daycare since she was 11. She volunteered and then she got payed for it. (it wasn't illigale becuse she was just helping an adult.) Most state limit working age, but not volunteer (or under the table jobs). Especial if they pay the volenteer in gifts, like gift certifiics or keep a tab and they can get you stuff, like my hairdresser you can work off hair cuts, dyes, products you want to buy from her. It really depends what she wants to use the money for.

Actually most of my best friend's job started out as volunteer jobs that she got to work as. She was so personable (even if she was a little clumsy sometimes) she got paid with in months.People feel guilty if they don't pay for good work. I guess it's kind of a trial basis thing. They think oh it will be nice to have help and then you have them hook. They realize how much you work, how well and they fell like life is just easier with you. Then they give you "appreciation gifts" or tell you they want to pay you.

You can ask labs or offices if they need aid in sorting papers or helping clean beaker. The best she can do is a secretary job.(mostly at a home buessness) That depends on how mature, responsible, capable and good worker she shows herself. (these kind of jobs may not seem very exacting but she can learn a lot, and see a lot more. So she could move on to higher jobs at a earlier age. Sometimes references in the right field is all she needs when she's older, even if it's something that anyone could do.) I wish I would have done that.
Reply:Your sister is too young to work yet , If she is looking for more cash she could try asking friends and relatives if they have any jobs that need doing but as her brother older or not you need to make sure that she is not exploited
Reply:Possibly yard work, maybe baby sitting-times may have changed since I was a kid. What about animal care taker or something like that? Think creativity is probably needed. Most businesses would like their employees to be older.
Reply:hai, im aleeya..im a mechanical engineering University student in Malaysia.. i've read a marketing book bout a 7 year old kid that became milionaire by he's own effort.

Reply:the okay jobs: babysitting, house sitting, lemonade stand, car wash, mother's helper, collecting cans, or selling flowers. (If she wants to sell flowers she needs to grow them in her backyard.)the best jobs are: babysitting, betting, or going on kids american idol and singing her heart out. Is paper round being a paper boy?

Reply:It's summertime and camp is going on or any sooner. She can get a job at the camp while enjoying too. I know a camp that employs kids like her to watch and care for the little ones but it's located here in Canada. If you're here it might help her.
Reply:does anyone run a family buisness who is related to you? they are allowed to employ her if needed. you could take part in casual work if in the countryside (UK) strawberry picking starts about now / apple picking, turkey plucking at x-mas etc i done that since i was about 12 and good money to if dedicated to pick. usually you will still get cash work and some ask for your N/Inumber but just make it up or work with a older person and have them collect your money with their own
