My husband is an ex felon. No violent crimes or sex offenses, all his background consist of is drug related. He is trying to find a good paying job I am currently pregnant (high risk) and can not work, we also have a 1 yr old daughter. He is very willing to work 7 days a work 14 hour shifts if needed. But every good job we know of requires a background check and once they see he has a background they don't even give him the time of day. He's been working for temp agencies but they will only give him the jobs that pay no more than minimum wage and we cannot live off that. Does anyone know where he can go to apply for a good to great paying job in the Riverside county area, regardless of criminal record? He has a reliable transportation.
Jobs for ex felons in Southern California?
There is also a federal program which "insures" felons so the company will be covered financially. He should ask his p.o. about it or check with a workforce center or even google it. Also, sales is a good job that allows felons (depending on the company).
Reply:I'm in a different state than you, so I can't give you ideas specific to So Cal. However, there are usually community organizations that help ex-felons get back on their feet and find decent jobs. Your husband may want to look into getting bonded; sometimes this reassures employers about hiring ex-felons.
I had a friend who did prison time for possession with intent to sell. He had a hard time getting jobs once he was released and ended up going back to a former employer. The former employer rehired him, so he could have decent employment record post-prison and a decent paying job. Not sure if that's an option for your husband or not though.
