To switch jobs in Singapore, do I need a No Objection certificate frm my current employer ?

If I have to switch jobs in Singapore, do I need a No Objection certificate ( NOC) without which I cannot switch jobs at all? I heard of this rule in in Arab countries where u cannot change ur job unless u hav an NOC from ur current employer which they usually dont give and hence ur stuck at the job for good. Is that the case in Singapore too, or u can switch jobs easily and all u need to do is apply for a change in Employment Pass

No, I have never heard of NOC in Singapore..
Reply:No, there is no such rule in Singapore.

If you are an Employment Pass (EP) Holder, your new Employer must be willing to apply for the EP under the new company for you. If so, then you can switch employer easily.

With effect from 1 Jan 07, you can even apply for the Personalised Employment Pass (PEP) if you fulfil all the conditions. If you have the PEP, you do not even need the new employer to apply for EP for you. You can switch employer very easily. See URL for more info.

Reply:yes . you can change your job easily here . never heard before whats that NOC here .
Reply:there is no NOC practiced in singapore. however, if you are moving to a competitor, you might be asked to sign a non-disclosure and non-compete agreement for a fixed period of time, normally for 6 mths to 1 year. this is common in the computer industry where employee turnover is very high, especially in sales.
