Is job experience required for waitressing jobs?

I want a summer job waiting tables when I go back home from school for about three months at a place like Johnny Rockets, California Pizza Kitchen, Louise's or Mimi's Cafe. I don't have job experience in dining or food... so I don't know whether or not it would be a good idea if I invested my time looking through jobs like that. I'm also 18, and not sure whether restaurants hire waitress/waiters that young. =/

Would it be a realistic to look into a waitressing job? Do they usually hire seasonal employees?

I think in there it is a good idea for you. I would do it in a second
Reply:screw craigslist...

without experience you might not be able to get a good waitressing job. but the places you mentioned would be a good place to start. they hire hostess off the street in a lot of places. and hostess don't really do much so it is easy to learn, if you pay attention. and if you do well at that you can move up the ladder quick, especially if the place is short handed. when applying put "host, expo, server" in the place where it asks what you are applying for. the host seats guest, the expo prepares the plates to go to the table.

the best time to apply for these jobs is weekdays between 2 and 4. BRING YOUR OWN PEN!!!!

good luck
Reply:Yes they do hire seasonal employees. You can go on craigslist...they have alot of waitressing jobs. And alot of places will hire you with no experience as long as you have a positive attitude/good personality ..Like to work with people.

They're going to train you anyway. Now being a people person is something they can't train you to do so if you're hot tempered or impatient maybe its not the job for you.The hardest thing about waitressing( to me) is learning the menu, because you need to know what goes with what and so on when customers ask because they expect you to know everything!
