I'm in my second year of college (18 y/o female in New York), and am looking for a job to take up some of my extra time. I'm currently in a Liberal Arts program, while I complete the prerequisites to the Nursing (RN) program at school. If everything goes well and as planned, I'll be in the Nursing program next Fall (2008). I could easily get a job at Target, but they offered me a job at $7.50 an hour, which although is convenient, is not appealing to me. I've also applied at an OB/GYN office as a part time receptionist, and am waiting for a response. I need a job with a part time schedule, because I'm going to be over my head in classwork this semester. What part time jobs do you suggest for a future nurse?
What Jobs Do You Suggest For A College Student %26amp; Future Nurse?
I have known several nurses in my college days...most worked part-time at nursing homes or with mentally challenged people in group homes. These types of jobs are related to your future in health care......good luck.
Also try to look at the major hospitals, clinics, Red Cross, plasma centers, hospice care, etc in your area.

Reply:For a future nurse, a job in a doctor's office would be good, but they are mostly daytime hours which might not fit with your schedule, although many doctor's offices do hire part-timers.
A part time receptionist might not make any more than the Target job though - and if you're in a state where minimum wage is less than $7.50, would very possibly make less.
Reply:YOU MIGHT ALSO CONSIDER VA FACILITIES
Reply:Apply to work at local hospitals. You'll learn valuable information, and you'll build valuable relationships with people who are doing now what you want to do in the future.
