hi
my boyfriend for the last 5 yrs has worked in retail he hates it just feels like a number gets treated like crap. is on his feet all day, he's getting a condition where his legs are sore and gettin veins hes only young. he needs a sitting down job really
he wants to do somethin else desperately but what? would be looking for a 9-5 job. is good with computers, customer service dealing with people but not that good with figures/accounts etc. dont think he would work in a bank
please help when i look for office jobs it comes up reception/admin jobs i think they stereotpyically go to female (i work in office work myself)
he's hates working weekends, we have no ties, and would luv to travel, say go to paris, rome every odd weekend if he had the weekends free we could do that, we never get any time to spend together as it is, which dosent help cos everydays the same and i spend the weekend alone mostly
where shuld i look what could he do?
what 'office jobs can guys do???
What jobs can he do????
anything if he puts his mind to it.
why office job?why not a driving job?
reception job?
Reply:The job you desribed is called "Customer Service". It is new and growing industry.
Reply:maybe apply for council office jobs .....men work in these
help desk for computer companies
phone companies
anything like that ...electricty companies etc
Reply:I used to work in retail myself so can really sympathise with your boyfriend (and yourself with the whole weekends thing).
Has he considered working in head office of retail - customer service department, HR department, IT support department.
Try looking at Universities for admin jobs or IT support jobs. There are loads of great recruitment websites you could have a look at and sign up to to get jobs sent by email. There are some websites where you can do personality testing too where they will assess his preferences and come up with lists of jobs that would be suited to his choices and ideas.
Try these:
www.monster.co.uk
www.totaljobs.co.uk
www.jobs.ac.uk (university jobs)
www.jobcentreplus.gov.uk
www.fish4jobs.co.uk
www.cv-library.co.uk
www.reed.co.uk
Look at the local council websites too for job vacancies they have.
You could also get your boyfriend to make an appointment with a local recruitment / temping agency. They will likely offer career advice. If he has been to college / university recently then use the careers service there.
Good luck
Reply:He could do a reception job - I know men who do reception jobs.
Otherwise there is answering phones for a company like a helpline for instance.
dental supply
